Ever since their Mercury-nominated last LP West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, fans of the devilishly good Leicester rock band Kasabian has been anticipating for their newest album to drop. Guitarist Sergio Pizzorno once proclaimed that it’s their band’s job to keep ‘the trendy perplexed’, and with the release of Velociraptor! last September it looks like they still have the predatory vigor to keep doing it, and still hella good at it.
Kasabian was brought to worldwide prominence when “Club Foot” – a single from their eponymous 2004 debut – rocketed up music charts in UK and the rest of the world. With Velociraptor!, they’ve returned with more foot-stomping anthems such as “Days Are Forgotten”, “Velociraptor” and “Switchblade Smiles”. Malaysians may have gotten their first taste of the British band via their dynamic closing act at 2009’s MTV World Stage, but for the band’s gargantuan tour of 2012, Singapore will be Kasabian’s only stop in South East Asia. For those who don’t want to miss live performances off their latest record, this calls for an epic trip to the Lion City!
